Meet Jessica Taylor: The Patent & Trademark Attorney Who Makes Innovation Stick

Most people think of intellectual property law as a filing exercise. You invent something, you file a patent, and you move on.
Jessica Taylor knows it’s far more complicated than that — and she’s built a practice around making sure clients don’t find out the hard way.
Jessica is an Associate at INK, focusing on patent prosecution, trademark registration and enforcement, IP strategy, technology and innovation protection, and portfolio development. She came up through Big Law, where she spent her early career preparing and prosecuting patent applications across a wide range of technology areas: medical devices, consumer products, mechanical devices, robotics, and image processing.
The Neuroscience Foundation
Jessica holds a B.S. in Neuroscience from BYU Provo — a degree that doesn’t have an obvious straight line to patent law, until you think about what neuroscience actually trains you to do: hold complexity, adapt across disciplines, and learn whatever system is in front of you at speed.
That intellectual agility is directly relevant to patent work. Every client’s technology is different. Every application requires understanding a new invention well enough to argue for its novelty and non-obviousness in front of the USPTO. Jessica’s scientific background means she can get there faster and go deeper than an attorney who only knows the law and not the underlying technology.
She earned her J.D. from Brigham Young University in 2022 and is licensed in Massachusetts and registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office — meaning she can prosecute patents nationally regardless of where a client is based.
Since Joining INK
Since joining INK, Jessica has expanded her practice into trademark law, adding brand protection to her IP toolkit. She now helps clients secure protection for their ideas across both the patent and trademark sides — a full-spectrum approach to IP that matters increasingly for startups and growth-stage companies who are building their brand and their technology at the same time.
Her approach is practical: understand the asset, understand the threat landscape, build a protection strategy that holds. Not just a filing, but a position.
Who She Works With
Jessica works with inventors, startups, and growth-stage companies that have something worth protecting — whether that’s a patentable innovation, a trademark that anchors a brand, or a portfolio that needs to be built and managed over time.
If you’ve built something, Jessica helps make sure it stays yours.
